Our Mission

The mission of PRME is to transform business and management education, research, and thought leadership globally by providing the principles and a collaborative platform to embed sustainability and responsible leadership into academic institutions. We aim to equip current and future leaders with the skills and mindset needed to balance economic goals with environmental and social responsibilities.

Our Vision

We envision a world where business education plays a central role in creating a more inclusive, equitable, and sustainable global economy. PRME aspires to be a leading catalyst for thought and action, empowering higher education institutions to shape responsible leaders who contribute meaningfully to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The Africa Chapter is committed to provide PRME regional signatories with a forum to advance the Principles for Responsible Management Education, discuss issues of mutual interest and concern, as well as share and develop good practice and innovative approaches in Responsible Management Education.

Our Values

The Chapter is guided by the seven Principles of PRME and is committed to working collaboratively together and with colleagues in other chapters as advocates of responsible management education. The committee also pledges to help others pursue the PRME ambition of integrating the SDGs into business school strategy, including teaching, research, partnerships and organisational practices.

The 7 core principles are:

  • Purpose: We develop the capabilities of students to be future generators of sustainable value for business and society.

  • Values: We incorporate into our academic activities the values of global social responsibility as portrayed in international initiatives such as the United Nations Global Compact.

  • Method: We create educational frameworks, materials, processes, and environments that enable effective learning experiences for responsible leadership.

  • Research: We engage in research that advances our understanding of the role, dynamics, and impact of corporations in creating sustainable social, environmental, and economic value.

  • Partnership: We interact with managers of business corporations to extend our knowledge of their challenges and to explore jointly effective approaches to meeting these challenges.

  • Dialogue: We facilitate dialogue among educators, students, business, government, consumers, media, and civil society organizations.

  • Sustainability: We are committed to aligning our strategies and operations with the broader goals of sustainable development.
