About this session

As part of the 8th Biennial Conference of the Africa Academy of Management (AFAM), this online session invites scholars, educators and practitioners to reflect on how collaboration and innovation can help address Africa’s most pressing grand challenges. Held under the theme “The Art of Collaboration: Addressing Grand Challenges in Africa through Research, Education, Practice and Policy Making,” the session explores the transformative potential of African scholarship, partnerships & leadership in reshaping management practice for sustainable development.

Through research-led dialogue and shared experience, participants will examine how Africa’s management community can co-create actionable knowledge and drive institutional change across sectors. This is an opportunity to engage deeply with ideas that blend academic rigour, practical relevance and social responsibility.

“Collaboration for Climate Leadership: Building Capacity and Catalysing Change in African Business Schools.”

Moderated by Dr Mumbi Wachira (Strathmore University Business School, Kenya), this discussion spotlights collaborative strategies that enable African institutions to strengthen climate leadership alongside sustainable management education. Speakers will share insights on integrating sustainability into teaching and research, advancing policy engagement & fostering multi-stakeholder partnerships that lead to tangible, scalable outcomes.
