Who is PRME?
The Principles for Responsible Management Education (PRME) is a United Nations–supported initiative launched in 2007 to promote sustainability in business and management education. Built around Seven Principles, PRME encourages schools to equip future leaders with the skills to balance economic success with social and environmental responsibility. The initiative supports the integration of the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) into teaching and research, aligning institutions with the broader mission of the UN Global Compact. With over 800 signatories worldwide, PRME is the largest network connecting the UN with management-focused higher education institutions, working to transform business education for a better future.
PRME Chapter Africa was initiated in 2021 and the first full 3-year term Chapter Steering Committee was appointed in June 2022 following a rigorous application process of all communicating PRME signatories in Africa. The Chapter is led by a nine-member Chapter Steering Committee (CSC).
As at May 2025, the Chapter has 22 communicating members in 7 African countries, including Nigeria, Morocco, Tunisia, Algeria, Kenya, Egypt, and South Africa.
We welcomed 3 new signatories to PRME Chapter Africa in 2024 and there is considerable scope for Chapter growth to develop the PRME values, engagement, and activities across Africa. The CSC looks forward to welcoming more signatories over the coming months.
